Dr. Roop Singh Bora, Founder and Managing Director of Dharma Biotechnologies, has over 28 years of experience in academia and pharmaceutical/biotechnology industries and has extensive knowledge in research & development, manufacturing and quality/compliance. He has research experience for 11 years in reputed universities/ institutes in Japan, USA and Saudi Arabia. He has  published 76 articles including research articles, review articles, book chapters, patents, conference papers in reputed international journals. He has been awarded with two USA patents and also filed 8 Indian patents. He has managed numerous projects for reputed organizations and has achieved superior outcomes in challenging and time-bound projects.  The area of his research expertise include molecular biology, microbiology, cell biology, functional genomics and drug discovery & development.

Dr. Bora obtained his bachelor’s degree in Zoology from Delhi University, India, followed by M.Sc. degree in Biotechnology from Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai, Tamilnadu, India. He completed his Ph.D. in Biotechnology from Madurai Kamaraj University, Tamilnadu, on a thesis entitled “ Introduction and expression of the insecticidal crystal protein genes of Bacillus thuringiensis in environmentally stable Bacillus sp.” He was a Post-doctoral fellow at the very reputed and prestigious Institute of Physical and Chemical Research, RIKEN, Tokyo, Japan. He also worked as a Post-doctoral Fellow at the Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia, USA.  Dr. Bora  worked as a Senior Group Leader in a very reputed Indian Pharmaceutical company, Ranbaxy Laboratories Ltd, Gurgaon, India. He was  involved  in  early  stage  of  drug  discovery  in various therapeutic area i.e Asthma,  COPD, Diabetes, Cancer, Urinary Incontinence and Benign prostatic hyperplasia at the New Drug Discovery Research Group, Ranbaxy Laboratories Ltd. Besides, industrial experience, Dr. Bora has extensive research and teaching experience at King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and Eternal University, Himachal Pradesh, India.  Dr. Bora carried out extensive research on medicinal plants at King Abdulaziz University, Saudi Arabia and Eternal University, Himachal Pradesh, India. He was involved in identification and characterization of therapeutic phytochemicals from medicinal plants and decipher their mechanism of action using genomics based approach.
